Sherry Grogan
Sherry Grogan APRN, RN, PMHNP-BC

PMHNP at Synapse Psychiatry

Sherry Grogan APRN, RN, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with more than 14 years of experience. She has extensive experience across multiple professional and academic domains, including inpatient and outpatient clinical practice, professional leadership, nursing education, and scholarly writing. Ms. Grogan earned her psychiatric practitioner degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston. Prior to graduate school, she served as a secondary school nurse and became a PMHNP as a response to the shortage of mental health clinicians for adolescents. Since graduation, she has worked as a psychiatric consult for transplant patients, as well as a provider at Houston’s Menninger Clinic, one of the nation’s premier mental health facilities. She spent 10 years in clinical research studying mood disorders and has published multiple research articles and book chapters. Ms. Grogan has also presented at several conferences on topics including psychiatry and heart disease, ADHD, transplant psychiatry and delirium. For the past 9 years, she has precepted and mentored PMHNP students from Texas Tech University, University of Texas, and others. She is also a founding board member of Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses of Texas (PAPNTX), the first organization created to unify PMHNPs across the state. Ms. Grogan is the founder and owner of Synapse Psychiatry in Houston, where she treats patients with mood, anxiety, ADHD and thought disorders, as well as those with comorbid medical conditions. She takes pride in serving the mental health needs of her community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family in Missouri City.
