Health Affairs tracked the primary care workforce numbers for a decade and found NP numbers surged while physician numbers remained relatively flat. Additionally, their report expanded its focus to include that of the behavioral health workforce due to the crisis levels reported in this area. The analysis brings forward the need to modernize policies to fully utilize the ever growing pipeline of both the behavioral and primary healthcare workforce.
