PMHNPs provide 1 in 3 mental health prescriber visits to Medicare

With the demand for mental health treatment has soared since the pandemic, the number of psychiatrists accepting insurance is dropping. Fee for service claims during 2011-2019 showed PMHNP's provided 1 in 3 mental health prescriber visits to Medicare patients. Had there not been the growth in the PMHNP workforce during this same period, there would have been a 30% decrease in mental health specialist visits.
